What IT Certificates do you have?

NVQ Level 2 Using IT - useless
RSA Clait Level 1 - useless

6 years experience in IT Support but 99% of work was dealing with Apple Macs, software, hardware, internet and peripheral problems - useless

I am struggling to find work and that is forgetting about IT support because people do not think I can transfer my skills to an MS environment easily. Then for administration and office work they want an RSA level 2 or an ECDL or any number of things that I do not have and my qualifications are not equivalent to despite knowing my way around software well.

I'm Bill Gates, and now im retired, I write and publish the Microsoft exams, so I think that makes me pretty L337

CCNA, CCIP, CISecS, and an old gcse in Computer science somewhere. Presently studying for the CCDA, and thinking about doing an Open University degee in Technology.

Yeah i'd say that almost 1/2 the people out their with "IT certs" haven't actually studied for them. Instead they've gone and got TestKing, Pass4sure or one of the many that are out their, learnt the pattern of the question & answer sat the exam and passed witha very good score!

Boot camps are just as bad if not worse, a friend of mine got sent to the US to do a 2 week boot camp - In 2 weeks he went from having no formal IT quals & only a small amount of experience to being an MCSE +Messaging +Security

I know my current employer doesn't value IT certs they want hard experience and that's all.

I am not in the IT area but if people are going on boot camps and getting the same cert as someone who has studied for it for maybe years, surely it would undermine the value certs have due to the cheaters/bootcamp people?
