What kind of fluctuations in SNR are normal on a maxdsl line?

Hi :)

I was just wondering what kind of fluctuations are normal on a maxdsl line? My router (Draytek 2800G) syncs at 8128 but throughout the day the SNR will fluctuate between 6 and 10 is this kind of behaviour normal? If it is of any consequence, the loop attenuation sits fairly constantly at 29.

Many thanks

I'd say its normal. My line does that quite a bit depending on the times of the day. If it isn't affecting your connection then i wouldn't worry about it :)

My line drops about 6db from day to night, it's due to extra electrical activity when people come home from work and street lights are turned on etc. Rather annoying since during the day i can sync at 5mb but i have to go down to 4mb because of the lower SNR on the night.

Yes it's normal on Max.

My SNR varies between 9 dB through the day and goes down to 5.5 dB in the evenings and this variation is more or less fixed i.e. it doesn't wander off the limits very often although if my SNR drops to 4 dB then my connection drops and my router resyncs.

Fortunately this doesn't happen very often.

13 - 10 for mine, which I think is quite good. As has been said, more people + more stuff being turned on in the evenings which will lower it.
