My mate has asked me to build her a PC for video editing, web cams ect and editing video from a digital cam corder as well as camera?

Now i reckon its going to need memory, but she wants to stay with XP pro as she has had nothing but issues with Vista on her new pc.

She has a screen mouse/keyboard ect, just need the box and the gubbins in it.

Budget of about £1000 give or take 10% id guess.

What spec would you guys and girls recomend building.

something like a q6600 processor, 4gb of memory, Abit IP35 Pro mobo, might be worth looking at 2 hard disks , one for operating system/programs and 1 for storage, dvd-rw for producing dvd's (may be worth getting one with lightscribe).

case wise have a look at the lian li's really down to personal preference so let you're friend have a look, preferably with 120mm fans to keep it quieter.

PC Power & Cooling Silencer 470W Power Supply should do power wise and be fairly quiet.

tbh £1000 is a bit over the top, unless your including professional high end video capture and sound cards or a couple of nice big monitors

something like the '£500 build' with a quad core and 4gig ram would be more than adequate
