What kinda PCs do the OCUK team use?

Same here. It's naff now and I'm stuck with it for another 3 years probably :(

I feel your pain. I'm hopefully not going to have to put up with it for quite that long (and hell, in the current climate there's every chance the company won't be here that long! :D).

must need a re-install, there's nothing wrogn with that setup unless you're gaming

What it needs is dropping from a great height. Maybe from space.

I will sell it to you only if your Nigerian.

Yes sir, I am.

Here is a picture to prove my identity.

I'm on an Optiplex 755: Q6600, 4gb, 80gig Raptor and a 7600gt (the initial X1300's wouldn't do dual monitor...)

Most excellent. Most others are on similar 755's, Precision 390's or M6300's, few D630's floating around also.

What kind of PC does Spie have at home? or does he not bother with high performance PC's? I know he likes fast cars ETC.

If I owned a business like this I think I'd have the best of the best, regardless!

Our school is supposidly a 'technology college', and it's got a hell of a lot of computers, but quite a lot of them are running ****ty P4's with about 256MB of RAM, and they are pretty damn slow. We've recently got some new Compaqs with Core 2 Duos, and they're lovely. I'm thinking of stealing one and putting a quad in it :P

I have a 3 year old Dell Optiplex (can't remember the model no).

Specs: P4 3Ghz, 512mb ram, 80gb hhd and the crap is has in there. (The best bit of kit I use in the office is my mouse...MX518:p)

Hopefully should be getting another 1-2 gb ram in the next few weeks. The page file usage is killing me:(

At uni every lecture room has a last gen 24 inch imac (running xp and osx) linked to a projector which is only used to show powerpoints etc. The student computer facilities have generic P4 HT pc's with the sound disabled

When I used to work on placement I started out with a Toshiba M2 laptop with some Centrino single core 1.2GHz 512MB RAM, was ok for the internet and word, but then it struggled to open outlook.

Then they asked me to start doing photoshop, flash and sound forge work and that was the end of that laptop, got a nice intel core2duo with a couple of gigs of RAM, this was about a year ago so was fairly high spec.

Good stuff.
