what kinda PSU do i need?

edit:

I recommend you to get better HDD, I have same but 32mb cache which twice faster, but it's not fast enough and noisy.

you need good 500W PSU, I would take 600W...do you want mudular ot not?

as i said im a noob in the PSU market :) . what does modular mean?

i suggest you get a more reliable HDD (7200.11s are awful)

corsair VX450 will run that, any smaller then it would be cutting it close when taking into account any possible spikes in power draw

I'd go for an OCZ ModXStream 600W for about £70 inc VAT. You don't state a budget, so I'm not sure if that's out of your range.

Modular means that the power supply has a stack of plugs on the back of it, and some unconnected wires. You can then choose which sockets you need.

Essentially, you only plug the wires in that you actually want to use. It's slightly more expensive (usually about £10 more for smaller PSUs) but it means you have less case clutter and gives better air flow.

If you don't want modular, the OCZ StealthXStream 600W is about £60 inc VAT.

If you can't afford that, you will get by with a 500W PSU (The StealthXStream 500W is about £50, or £60 for the ModXStream) but you'll have to replace it if you want to add components later.
My choice would be the 500W if you have £50, if you have £60 it's a choice between a little extra power (600w) for peace of mind and better upgradeability, or the 500w modular for the cleaner case. If you can stretch to £70, get the 600W modular.

I think you will be only person here to recommend OCZ PSU!

he has high end nice gaming pc setup!
he needs really good branded psu: corsair, be quite, enermax!

had my own experience, better spend now more for one futureproof PSU, than in couple of weeks again spend money!

also, you've missed great sales: gtx280 £215 and HD4870 £166

maybe you want to wait?
no doubt Gtx260 u've chosen is maybe the best gtx260 , but for price maybe will be something better?

yeh, i found a 4870 for 160 pounds

would a single maxcore 260 be better than a single 4870?

The 4870 is still faster than a 260 core 216 at stock. Although there are reports of the ATI cards having driver issues.

Definately don't skimp on the PSU - it's something you can re-use anyway, and if it goes it can take your whole system with it.

Nothing wrong with OCZ PSUs. PC Power and Cooling make decent components :-)
If you wan't to spend £20 extra for a corsair though, go for it. :-)

they are almost equal. the deciding factor is what games do you play

some games perform better with nvidia cards, some with ati

ah yes, i remember watchin a vid on youtube and the specs were different for each game ty

also, i would love if you could reccomend some antivirus program

i thought norton antivirus gaming edition as it does not decrease performance (much)

not sure about 4870 vs core 216- I HAD BOTH OF THESE CARDS!

had HD4870 iverclocked edition 800mhz/3800mhz (normal edition 750mhz-3600mhz)
and Gtx260 216 spp (which is not NEW core 216)

well, don't get yourself confused m8,
don't spend on card+psu ~£350

it is simple:

I have Spare PSU 580W and 4870 oc edition- both 1.5 months old!
if you want it, GET IT! :D :) :) :)

With antivirus, you could use virtually any and just disable the active protection as you play games. Since you're not downloading anything you don't need to be checking all files as they're open.

Then when you finish playing, turn the active protection back on. Job done.

If not: I find that a combination of AVG 8 and ThreatFire work superbly and use less than 1% of CPU and 100 mb ram between them.
