What Laptop for £1000?

I'm looking to buy myself a new laptop (NOT desktop) with a maximum budget of £1000.

My primary use will be for video & music production.

I assume that dual-core (Intel Core Duo!) would be the route to take, a min of 1gb of RAM and decent storage capacity.

Can anyone recommend a laptop that would suit my needs? or what spec i should expect for the price.

Any help would be appreciated.

You could get a Macbook for under 1k, and bootcamp if you want to use windows.

I did think of that but the laptop is actually for a friend who isn't hardware savvy and would prefer a pc especially because of the software side of things being more 'freely' available.

Also, i just think he would prefer a pc over a mac.
