What "man jobs" have you done today?

My missus got a new dishwasher at her house and I offered to have a go at plumbing it in, I'm sure I've missed loads of stuff, but it seems to work! anyone notice anything obvious I've missed?
Those plastic Y pieces are notorious for leaking, I would get a plumber in to put a proper outlet in.

Haha I had a post written out about the spring clips and then deleted it --- I even referenced how some folk on here swear by them :)

I've never had an issue without them but it costs very little to put the clip on. Make sure you don't balls it all up by overtightening.

Really? Never once had an issue but I guess YMMV!

If the door lining wasn't fitted so out of plumb I probably wouldhave either taken the tiles to the doorframe or mitred them with a set of tiles into the doorframe.

Changing the door lining frame seemed like extra effort

I have wonky door linings on most doors in my home and some cause the doors to swing open/shut and are beyond fixing with hinge position adjustment. I've replaced a few linings as I renovate room by room but it messes up the hall side a lot as the original blocks are often damaged and although I can repair and patch the wall finish it really is a lot of work so I am saving this for the worst ones.

Incidentally, what tiles are you using and are you happy with the quality? They're just the style we're after but there are so many and its hard to judge quality.

They're porcelenosa image white tiles

I have them in another bathroom which has been main bathroom in use for 2 years and yes happy.

Id recommend a visit to porcelenosa to have a look I don't think they're quite "white" as they have touches of other colours which you will see from photos. Only thing is the wall tiles are ceramic so not as good as porcelain for any hard knocks. (the floor type are porcelain)

I really like the textured pattern on the though. More pics in this thread

Last night went for tea at the son and partners house. Asked if I could look at their sound bar as it wouldn't switch on with the sky box after a power cut. Unplugged it plugged it back in and switched it on using the button on the sound bar, working fine. Now they have to figure out how to put a battery into the remote

Bought / cut and positioned some.guttring in the bench in the greenhouse

Apparently you can fill with seed compost and let them germinate in there, move the gutter lengths outside and slide them out individually or in lengths into a trench in the garden easier than moving out from a seed tray

Oh and need to plant these

Took a rose bush out of a pot and planted in the front garden.
Drained some water from the koi pond and refilled.
Tidied tools back into a toolbox from upstairs bedroom.
Got wardrobes built yesterday, just have the handles to put on.
Got radiator back ontothe wall.
Knackered now, gonna chill and watch the football :-)

Might be the angle of the pics but looks like your tiles finish flush to the architrave? I'm trying to design that out of mine.
Oh, yeah they're just shy of the architrave at the worst bit on the top. Bit of silicone and it will be fine though.

If in dount id get a thick architrave but it seemed difficult to get a profile that wasn't as wide but also thick (mine is right beside where the shower screen is going)

I wouldn't use stripwood to pack out the door lining as I think that would be more visibly noticeable.

Feeling pretty crap so really struggled the last few days.

I ripped out the jointing compound I foolishly thought could fill the chases lol. Forward 1 step back 2 but got there in the end, just needs a skim.

I've also discovered joint and taping is my new worst job ever. I think 2 of the 4 are ok so I basically started again on the middle hence why it looks rough as dogs.

Gave it a guide coat whilst I was blocked, can finally see where I need to fill.

So plan to recover...
Sand
Fill
Caulk edges
Paint (I've bought the really expensive zinnser bathroom / no prime anti mould stuff).

I'll probably paint it all white then go over with whatever cover later.

Made a tree in the garden smaller with a bit of pollarding. Was getting far too tall but gives a nice bit of shade, so dont really want to lose it. Thought I'd give it a chance with this first. If it doesnt work it will completely come down.

Decent bit of wood off it as a bonus.

I think I've bitten off too much of a man-job and I might need to pay another man to do the job. Hopefully he does a better job than the last man who did a job :(

I cut the Acer in front garden down like that. Chop all new growth off after leaves have dropped in autumn
Put's on 6ft growth every year and looks good.

Yeah, hopefully it bushes up nicely at the top and I can just pollard it again every 5 years or so. I would have like to maybe take it lower, but the swing seat hangs off it and I have no where else for it to go!

Pics? This is the stage where the forum is epic :) Even if its just for you to express your own thoughts or issues.
I've stripped a bathroom but the old stud wall isn't level nor plumb so it's a right faff trying to get it straight to put the board on. I thought I'd straightened it out using spacers but adding more wood on just takes it all out again (it's bowed in the middle) and I CBA to sort it now. This is the second such job I've done over the last year and it's just dragging on now. I built a stud enclosure from scratch which was easier than sorting out this crappy wall, there's board on the other side of it as well so trying not to damage that.

Also the distance between the studs is such that if I put the boards on upright I'll have to add another stud in, which is fine but when I add it, the screw to put the board on ends up in the middle of the old and new stud. I could put the board up horizontally but meh.

I've just lost patience with it now, with a very busy day job I CBA to spend more free time on it. I don't know how you lot do it.

I'm going to get someone in to plaster and tile it so might as well let them do this bit also. I really don't like the fact that I have to stop but equally it's doing my head in and dragging on.
