Hi All,

I'm back on the pc scene after taking a few years off so I'm a bit rusty. I just need to know what memory I need for my new system.

Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155
Gigabyte Z68A-D3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard

I'm not looking at overclocking at all and want some decent memory.

I was interested in this:

Corsair Vengeance Blue 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual
Channel Kit (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B)

Is this okay or do I just need 1333mhz memory??

Also, do you know the mutiplier and bus speeds of my cpu??

Thanks in advance.

Go for it, that RAM is fine. Most people are running 1600mhz on their Sandy Bridge systems just fine.

The bus speed for the 2600K is 100mhz (do not change this, loads of other things including PCI and USB are locked to this), and the multiplier is 34x. You'll see it turboing it other speeds as well such as 35x on 4 cores, 36x on 3, 37x on 2 and 38x on one. This all depends on the type of load it's recieving.

even if not overclocking would still be an idea to look at aftermarket coolers as they'll give lower temps and lower noice(dependen) on cooler then the intel stock cooler, ram with fins etc will restrict the coolers you an use.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-001-GD&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat= cheap, quite and good cooling at stock and overclocked if you ever decide to(tho why you'd go k cpu if not overclocking is beyond me).
