I want to upgrade my laptop to 4GB for 64bit Vista and don't know what option to go for. One costs £58 and the other £94. Is it worth the difference in price and will I notice a difference in speed / performance?

Thanks for any help.

Module Size: 4GB kit (2GBx2)
Package: 200-pin SODIMM
Feature: DDR2 PC2-5300
Specs: DDR2 PC2-5300 • CL=5 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR2-667 • 1.8V • 256Meg x 64

I would hazard a guess and say that they are both the exact same thing.

There's not £10 of a difference between them, nevermind £36.

The PC5300 will do you fine.

check what your laptop has now/what it is capable of, you cannot mix and match :)

well it has 2 x 1 gb and Vista Home 32 bit. It only has 2 slots so I would have to get 2 x 2gb. Proc is 2.2 Intel duo.

Hoping to get a performance boost with new mem and 64bit? (I don't really game on this).

The highest FSB that his CPU can be is 200/800mhz, so anything from PC2-4200 upwards will be fine. It's probably running PC2-5300 atm.

So there's absolutley no reason to go for the PC2-6400.

Yes, I have two 1GB running at PC2-6400.

So I should go for the 2 x 2GB PC2-6400 rather than the more expensive ones?

Thanks for your help. Not really understand mem spec.

Do you know which CPU you have?

PC2-5300 CAS5 and PC2-6400 CAS6 are pretty much the same thing (and as I said in the first post I wouldn't be surprised if sets are the same memory).
