Dark age of Camelot without a doubt the best pvp mmo out there,
the problem is the game is now a bit dated and the european playerbase is no longer big.
If you are planning on playing it you should play in the Mythic (US) servers opposed to EU if you want good numbers in pvp (big rad unforunately will be done during us time), and the pve aspect is pretty boring and a looong grind.
Although i hear it is a lot eaiser than it used to be when when i played.

As for WAR there are good things being put into it and you will be pleasantly surprised, i cant say anymore because of NDA

Another FH regular! huzzah!

I agree with Chronic's comment, US is definately where it's at in terms of PvP.

Sadly I've more or less given up on MMO games now, DAOC was such a great game compared to the rest, sadly so many people doesn't give it a proper shot and it's been ruined by a company without vision. Very much like EA and Ultima Online.

LOTRO has PVP but it's very limited and without knowing some really nice friends to group with in PVE it's exceptionally boring.

agreed as that how it ment to be played the pve was thought out after and bolted on

For PvP ONLY, first being the very best...

Dark Age of Camelot (large gap) EVE Online (another large gap) Lineage 2 and (huge gap) EverQuest 2. After this the gap is so big they are not worth bothering with :p

SWGEmu atm is PVP only! well since that's all to do really, but yeah old school SWG was the best PVP, in saying this I know it doesnt answer OP's question but I like to moan about SWG /cry.

Try DAOC, heard great things about its PvP.

its boring one you play warcraft, my friend gave me a trial and i played it for 2 mins and it seemed like every other mmo out their.

get back in WoW if you can keep your addiction under control.

heres an interesting question, a little different to my first.

Are there any other MMO's than WoW where the priest class can have a good damage dealing function like Shadow? Whatever one it is, eq2, LOTR Online, Guild Wars, vanguard etc. etc.

I'd rather waste time on a new game than go through all the same steps on one I've done to death :)

Good God the grief system that game had still gives me nightmares :(

Only when you played with idiots who walked in front of you while shooting. It certainly stopped random teamkills you get in other FPS games. Worked very well I'd say!

Best PvP game? Aside from EvE it would have to be Lineage 2. The grind is what you make it and is nothing like it was at launch.
I do believe there a free trial running at the minute also.

Yes, but there are so many idiots out there. Also, sometimes you just can't avoid it and end up getting 100 grief points in one go through no fault of your own. I've ended up weapon and vehicle locked several times just because idiots keep crashing into me and giving me hundreds of grief points each time :(

It was an awesome game, though. Until they screwed it up with BFRs that is.

Another vote for planetside, Ive just come back after about 2 years away and its still good if a little quieter. BFRs are totally fixed. I took out one in a Pounder max the other day ( he was looking to wrong way) :). I cant say Ive ever had a massive problem with the grief system but it certainly seems a little less harsh now. Ive played for about 3 years in total and only ever been grief locked once.

You've gotta be a bit trigger happy (or a really careless driver :)) if you're getting weapon locked on a regular basis in planetside. I've played it for years and never even come close.

It's only happened once or twice I think, but it's usually due to a combination of people crashing into me and people getting in my way when I'm driving at speed (or at least fast enough not to be able to react).

I'm really tempted to resubscribe now though :p
