Just taken me 3 hours to change the starter on the wifes astra.

Sodding turbo means it's go smegging heatshields everywhere and the starter is held in from both ends! WHY ????!!!! ARGH! Including one bolt that isn't actually visable from above OR below the engine! WTF is that there!?

Every bleeding hose is held in place by a metal bracket so even when you pull the hoses out of the way, you can still dig chunks out of your arm with the pointy bits of metal. :(

Stupid bleeding design. Forgot to mention, the bolt you can't see is in behind the oil feed pipe for the turbo, so i can't even get a socket onto it, it gets better and better.ARGH!

and breathe .......

It takes an hour to change the starter on my turbo - with the engine out the car! I reckon yours is easy in comparison :p

I remember it taking me a week to change the starter on one car, I had to saw the spanner in half in the end because there was only about an inch and half gap before the engine got in the way.

Good old frenchies - mine whipped out in less than 2 minutes due to being held in by one easliy accessable bolt

My starter is held on by two bolts. Undone, it slides out easily and has enough excess cable that you can just rest it on the ground! Great :D

You'll get it done! :) There are worse jobs...
