iv just got me new pc up and running, and am now looking at a new buying a new monitor. Id like a 22" or a 24"( graphics card recommends not using a 23") for around th £150 mark, so tight budget.
Its between, benq 24", the Samung B2430h 24", and the Dell st2410. The deel being the favorite purely on looks. any opinions on these 3 monitors welcome. iv read a lot of good stuff about the BenQ, but the look does put me off.
Another issue i have, is i would like to see the monitors working before i purchase for 2 reasons. 1, purely asthetic 2, ensure no dead pixels.
Where in the central midlands could i do this? If i turn up at OC on a saturday would this be possible? Or any other store with a large range?

Thanks in advance

1) I don't know of many shops which have monitors on show...

2) most companies will take back monitors with dead pixels if they are with in a certain time limit or they may check before sending off

Most high-street shops that sell monitors will have a display model, so you can see what it looks like, but if you choose to buy one, you'll get a fully boxed one, some might sell you the display model for the full retail price, but then it's already a reasonable amount into it's lifetime (on constantly whilst the shop is open, plus at least an hour before and after probably)

What HW91 said about the returning is sometimes true, but it usually depends where on the screen, whether they are dead or stuck, and how many they are. eg, a monitor with a group of tightly packed dead pixels is much more likely to be accepted to be returned, than a monitor with 1 or 2 stuck pixels right next to the bezel. Check with the manufacturer and/or retailer to what their tolerance is for returning for this purpose.

Guys please keep in mind that any mention of a competitor would break the forum rules so keep it clean please :) thanks

Your best bet here is to use the distance selling regulations if you get one you are not happy with and you run into a warranty loophole. You will have to foot the postage bill though.

I really cant think of anywhere you can see the monitor you want to buy actually working, much less a place that actually has any of the models you are interested in on show.
