What monitors are you all using with your Series X?

Hi,

I'm still considering parting out my PC and trying to get hold of a Series X. I sold my monitor to my Brother and my PC has been sat in a box for nearly a month and I cant escape the fact that the prices for PC are insane at the moment I've just roughly added up what I could get for it and its over £900 plus I cant escape the fact that I am sick of the increasing prices and availability issues

If I was to get a Series X I would probably be happy with a 1440P 120HZ and use Performance mode in games, is that what most people do or do most people go for 4K/60?

Can anyone recommend any 1440/144 or 4K/60 monitors that have at least two HDMI ports as I'll need to connect my work laptop to it too for use with a Series X please?

Thanks

Acer Nitro VG271UPbmiipx here. Does 120Hz / 1440p fine on my series X. Has freesync and low response rate. I share it with my my PC and switch inputs. Happy with it for my needs

It is a gaming PC. Hasnt had a game played on it ages though. Its all console for me now as it just works. I like the Gigabtye one snips has posted above

I was just about to post a thread about which monitor is best for my series x.
At the moment I’m using an ancient Samsung lcd 720p screen and it’s fine I guess but would like something a bit more nicer now.
Looking at around 32” minimum screen size so would like some recommendations. I’ve had a google and still confused as to which one to go for. Suppose a lot of these review sites are being paid to give good reviews.

Don’t really care for 4K at the moment as I’ve got a 55” OLED downstairs.

So any decent recommendations??

You really really 120hz on a monitor. I am very happy with the Dell S2721DGFA, for £280 not much comes close.

If you can do yourself a favour and get a decent TV with a proper HDR implementation (OLED or high nit LCD), they're far superior to monitors and imo 4K is not a good resolution for monitor sizes anyway.

Using a BENQ EX2780Q with my Xbox Series X and PS5. It does 1440p @ 120hz with VRR on Series X and accepts a 4K @ 60hz from PS5. Has two HDMI ports, display port and built-in speakers and subwoofer with a little remote control. Feels like a TV :D

This sounds interesting I'll have a proper look at it later

How is the HDR do you know?

Edit - nevermind I want 32" and this is 27"

Most HDR monitors are no brighter than most non-HDR TV's, there are a lot of cheap TV's that do the same they advertise HDR and have a HDR mode but the panel is just not capable of displaying a "High Dynamic Range".

OLED's go up to about 800nits with perfect blacks, locally dimmed LCD's can do 1000-3000 nits to compensate for imperfect blacks. I don't think there are any locally dimmed monitors and if there are they will be extremely expensive.

edit: according to an article that monitor actually goes up to 470nits in HDR mode but you're not going to get good HDR without local dimming, the peak brightness will just wash out the image all across the screen.

Without local dimming, the brighter the monitor gets the more washed out it will look - the image will just move closer and closer to pure white. That's why almost everyone who buys one of these "HDR" monitors that dont have dimming turns the HDR on once and never again.

And yes there are local dimmed LCD desktop monitors, mostly ASUS sells them. They are as you suspected, extremely expensive - buying an OLED TV is cheaper than an HDR locally dimmed monitor.

As far as I'm aware, the current best HDR local dimming monitor that can be bought today is the ASUS PG35VQ - the price is a killer though, 2500 pounds

Same, very pleased with it.

I find FPS gaming on big tvs horrible now, too much going on

Everyone seems to be using 27" which I'm surprised at, why not 32" out of interest is just because it's what everyone already had with their pc or did you specifically buy 27" for the xbox?

Are you using a gaming pc too? Do you find you still use your gaming pc and if so what kind of games etc
No. Never had a gaming pc in my life. Always into consoles.

27 is a nice size for when playing at a table I think. 32 just seems too big and OTT

LG 27GN850 here. 1440p/144hz 1m response time, IPS panel. 2 HDMI, 1 Display Port, headphone jack and it does free-sync and g-sync.

It's the perfect size imo for using a console on a desk as I'm not having to dart my eyes or turn my head to see everything. I wish I got this sooner as I was using a 4k LG monitor with my One X and looking back it's a rubbish in comparison.
