what music whilst gameing?

I don't listen to anything any more, as my pc dies more frequently if I have other programs running at the same time as WoW :(. Before it did that, I listened to whatever I was in the mood for at the time, or just let it run through all the stuff on my iTunes playlist, which includes Reel Big Fish, Greenday, Nigel Kennedy, and the Mamma Mia soundtrack.
I can't stand trance, and I'm definately not a fan of heavy metal.
 
generally only listen to music in mmos, which is usually rock/heavy metal

fps - cant hear anything
offline rpgs - ruins the immersion
racers - i like to hear those revs
 
Usually listen to either Ricky Gervais or Russell Brand podcasts... but only when playing certain games (Sim City 4, Medi 2, Children of the Nile).
 
Trance or Drum and Bass when playing 1.6 and CSS

and just set media player to random when playing anything else.
 
Been listening to Skunk Anansie while playing Quake IV\WoW as of late. I'll normally play anything in my normal playlist though... indie\rock\metal but I'd much rather be on skype with mates these days.
 
What I find is that if the game doesn't already have a soundtrack then its probably not designed to be played with music. I mean playing BF2 whilst listening to music would be pretty stupid; the game demands well isolated/closed headphones imho.
 
for css or bf games nothing beats some good thrash metal:

annihilator
exodus
kreator
pantera
CoB
slayer
etc
