Hey guys,
I'm looking at buying a 1TB NAS, and if possible for it to be able to do most of the following;
I'd like to be able to store files on the drive without using some extra software that you need to install on your computer, I'd like to be able to add the drive into My Computer (Like a network drive).
Also if possible, I'd like to be able to give certain users access to certain files on the drive, if this is possible. Like create accounts on the drive?
Store any type of file on the drive (I read something about the LaCie Internet Space drive only being able to store certain file formats?)
And.. to be able to access the drive remote over an internet connection, without the need for additional software at the remote location.
Anything ells is a bonus, if there can be anything ells lol. I'm not sure if I'm expecting a bit much from just a NAS. The reason for not getting a file server is because of the room it would take up.
I've been looking at the Mybook World, seems nice, but some reviews say it's noisy.. I might be able to open it and replace the fan?
Also read that it's possible to edit the firmware.software on the MyBook World to allow it to act as a webserver etc, which seems kool.
Sorry for the essay
