I'm viewing a house later today for the first time and will be shown round by the vendor.

I've lots of questions however I'm not sure which questions should be saved for the estate agent or if it's acceptable to just ask the vendor everything.

Obviously things like which council tax band, why they're moving, how long it's been on the market etc aren't a problem. But I'm not sure if questions regarding any previous offers, previous offers rejected, how soon they're looking to move etc should be asked to the agent and not the vendor themselves?

Is there anything you wouldn't be asking them and saving to ask the estate agent?

Thanks,

BennyC

no harm in asking.

probably the biggest purchase of your life. so get as much info if you can.

although i think its unlikely either the vendor or the agent will discuss previous offers with you.

Ask what the area and neighbours are like, they should be honest about this as I'm sure there were cases where sellers lied and the buyers got something back from the purchase.

You're making the “big” purchase of your life so ask them both all the questions you want but I think that neither will discuss previous offers.

I guess you can ask what the highest offer is so far. I don't think that is out of the ordinary.

Definitely ask if there's anything there, or currently planned to be built that will cause you noise issues.

At my old job at a small flying club, we got a few complaints over noise from people that were living in new houses, as they hadn't been informed that the airfield was still active.

Ask them both the same questions separately.
If you get differing answers, you'll know one of them is bull****ing you. ;)
