What NVIDIA SLI would you buy?

Why do you say that? A GTX 260 (216 core) is a decent step up from a 9800GTX, even more so in SLI. 9800GTX is about as fast as a 9800GX2, on the other hand GTX 260 (216core) SLI is as fast as a 295 (for much less money).

Admittedly it will hard to get hold of a pair of GTX 260 cards these days, but if they can be found for a decent price then they would be a significant upgrade. This is taking into account that the OP does not have the option of going ATI - so a nice crossfire arrangemnet is not possible.
