What options does my friend have? Uni related

Talk to her, be friendly, supportive, try and get her involved :)

I just sent her this

'I think....you should stick it out. Why aren't you liking it?

Get yourself involved in the activities they have for freshers, go out and find new friends, and you'll soon forget about home :)'

Oh, and shes at Canterbury Christchurch Uni apparently.

oh it all makes sense now :p

(as kent alumni we have a duty to derogate C4 students)

Canterbury is a nice place to live if she doesn't want to go out every night. I would go down there if you can and accidentally introduce yourself to whoever she lives with. (if it's that kind of situation)

I'd rather just bone her tbh :p

She's rather attractive ;)

If it's the course she doesn't like, it's still early in the year, she can probably transfer to a different course in the same uni without much hassle.

she can always have a year off and think about it. if she wants to try again next year she can. student finance fund you aslong as you dont keep failing and retaking the year.
My bf dropped out of second year as the course wasnt taking him in the direction he wanted to go but he started again 2day on a different course and student finance are funding him again.

You get four years worth of student finance. I left mine after the first year and get finance for my three year course I am starting. My sister left after the second years of hers and got told if she went back onto a new three year course she would have to fund one of the years.

My friend went to Uni on Saturday and she has txt me saying she really hates it and doesn't want to continue (I know it's only been a week!)

drive up there and give her a massive punch to the ovaries tbh....

only been there a week - thats pathetic even by chick standards

Thank you patrick! i did write 4 years at first but wasnt 100% sure

I wonder If I'd get homesick. I'm sitting here thinking that I absolutely cannot wait to move abroad for uni. I'd leave tomorrow if I could!

Sorry, that doesn't help your question.

Going abroad for uni definitely has it's pro's, you absolutely have to get involved in some way or another as there isn't the safety net of going home every weekend, saying that, when I did it, the weekends were the hardest for a couple of months with everyone running home for mum to do their laundry :D

As for the OP, my cousin had the same problem when she first went, hated it at first, but luckily her bloke was also there and that kept her going - she's a teacher now and I think I'm right in saying she's glad she stuck at it.

If your friend really isn't cut out for Uni life though, better cut and run now before she wastes a lot of money only to decide in her 2nd (or 3rd ) year that it's not for her.
