What % pay rise to make you leave current "comfy" job?

Minimum 30% TC, I'd also want a heft sign on bonus (likely in stock) to account for giving up shares that are still vesting
I'm currently interviewing (well, I always do every 3-4 months) and I find this difficult to negotiate. They're always happy to cover that, but only want to add it to their typical vesting schedule rather than as a sign-on bonus.

I'd be expecting the sign on bonus to be in shares that vest over a schedule tbh - I would be starting with their normal sign on bonus and then countering with an increase to cover your remaining vest out at current company.

That's fair assuming all timings work out. I currently have a big one-off grant that will vest in 7 months so I expect that to be covered during the first year as a bonus rather than be split across 4 years.

Think in that case you're basically waiting for that to vest then move on - similar to how moving season is always post annual bonus at most places

A lot of companies will make it so that there's always something like this at the reasonably short-term horizon to incentivise people to stay. What I've learned is that there's always another company willing to match that if they are desperate enough, which is common these days especially with niche specialties. We may just need to be a little patient and direct about expectations.

Yeah for sure, I am always upfront in the interest of time with expectations - no point going through a laborious process just to have a wide gap in expectations

I hate it when recruiters try to get you to go through the process without confirming whether your expectations are even on the table or not. A couple of years ago I gave my expectations, went ahead with the interview assuming they can meet it if things work out between us, only for the offer to be significantly below what I asked for and them saying "we're unable to match that but we have a great culture and mission", yeah sure... big waste of time.
