What pedals to get?

Do you mean A530s? M520s can be adapted to be used with flats but I doubt it would last. A520s are single sided SPD pedals. A530s have a big flat on the other side. M324s are also combo pedals if memory serves.

M324 look to be better if you use normal trainers more than occasionally, as the cage looks to have a bit more bite, rather than the smooth A530's.
 
Opposite to most opinion I bought some m520 used on ebay for a second
bike (moving from toe straps) and although reliable the quality of the metal
is poor and they are rusting on the exposed springs and body.
On another bike (2nd hand) I have some dura ace 7410 spd's which are
10 years old and look and behave as good as new.
I wonder if the m540 would be better - more alloy ? but I would not
repurchase m520's
