The anti-facebook snobbery here is stupid :p Hide any messages you dont want to hear and it's a completely viable way to communicate to people!

Slightly higher than I estimated :D

Has to be wrong, I've only had this install since February so that works out to be about 480 times a day!

I have one, though I rarely use it myself (now and again I'll reply to something) but generally just use it to keep up with what is happeneing to everyone else. It has proved useful as I used to move around a lot and so did a lot of people I knew so shamefully lost touch with some good friends. They have since got back in touch we me via facebook so it's been good in that respect.

EDIT: Whilst I prefer to see friends face to face the majority of my friends on FB live between 300 and 600 miles away (one lives in LA/Phillipines) so seeing them face to face regularly isn't really an option.

Have one but it is only a place to dump my Twitter and FourSquare updates so people I know that are not on those two social networking thingies can see what I'm doing. I don't post directly to FaceBook.

A lot of it isn't snobbery it's simply seeing it for what it is - yet another site that's useful to some but not others. I've never had a FB page, never seen the point in it. I don't care what my friends from school are up to, as frankly I don't have any interest in talking to them or having them know what I'm doing from day to day. My wife however uses it infrequently, but her friends are scattered all over the world, so to her it's invaluable. :)

Not necessarily, I just prefer to see my friends in person, their 'status update' can wait 'til then.

so does everyone, however seeing people in person reguarly when they live on other side of country isnt always possible and its nice to keep in touch

Yeah I know, my friend in Toulouse is always on at me to join up, but it does mean that when we do get together things can get legend-----ary!

I have it, it means I can communicate with friends and family back in the UK and all my other friends over here.

Typical ocuk snobbery here again I see. Fb is like anything, what you make of it. Control it and it's a good social tool, let it run free and you will get fed up with it

Yup this is pretty much spot on. I love how people who 'hate' Facebook spend so much time moaning about it and starting polls. If you don't like it, don't use it - simple.
