What Positions Need Filling At Your Club

How long have you got?

Sorenson is probably on his way to Arsenal or Man U which Im actually quite glad about as Poom is more than adequate.

Left back, right back, centre back (leave Jody in)

Centre mid (Leave Piper, Arca and Reyna if fit and chosen)

2 strikers becasue both Flo and Philips with probably be on their way, although Im not really sure why anyone would want Flo

Do you not think Stu Taylor is a good goalkeeper ?

I think he should start infront of Seaman

Stuart Taylor is a capable young keeper, but we really need a world class keeper at the level we're playing.

What about cover for some of the older players like Shearer and Speed? You feel the squad is good enough to cope without them should they get injured long-term?

They did well enough with Ameobi and LuaLua up front in European games :) Hugo Viana will be ready for next season I hope because he looks like a fantastic talent. Very confident.

As for Southampton, I think I forward of Beattie's quality is needed to play alongside him, and maybe another right back. That's about it for us though :) I'm quite happy with the squad we have and understand fully that we can't afford to go buying world class players all the time. We have to make do with the world class players that we already have ;)

Nobody can replace Shearer but Ameobi and Lua Lua are good enough to do a job when he's injured. Jenas and Hugo Viana are more than adequate replacements for Speed and we have players like Kerr and McLen that can come in.

A pair to stand in or compete with Solano and Robert would be nice, but frankly we've got loads of players atm, particularly quality midfielders.

saints have jason dodd, david prutton and paul telfer all of whom can play right back.

Central midfield deffo needs strengthening, behind delap, svensson and oakley there is very little in the way of cover.

Up front they should just give Kevin Davies another chance, he runs and people and creates things. Omerod, Delgado, Parhas and Tessem are there to provide cover too.

I know we have Pahars but he always seems to get injured nowadays. When is he back from injury anyway? Is he going to play this season? Delgado will not play for us again I don't think. He's poo anyway hehe. Omerod is a hard working player but I just think that Southampton could attract a better forward, if you know what I mean. Kevin Davies I don't think is up to the task anymore either. I don't know what it is with him, just confidence I guess, but when I see him on the ball, I don't think he looks to threatening.

Prutton prefers a midfield role I thought, so that is the cover there in the centre and on the right wing.We also have that new Arias guy in midfield? I want to see him play as I have heard he is seriously quick.

Also in recent years I have thought Jason Dodd has become a liability at times. Sure, he played great against Wolves but they are lower league opposition. Against Everton in the league a few weeks ago he was made to look stupid by Rooney when they equalised. How he can stand about 6 yards off a player of his quality and let him cross it with his favourite foot is incredible.

I was at the Millwall cup game earlier this year and Davies changed the game when he came on, he had a shot within about 8secs of coming on, more than Omerod had managed all game. He also scored the equaliser of course :) Point taken about Delgado, he should be sold, Parhas should be fit and raring to go for next season though I woulda thought.

Prutton is primarily a right sided player rather than central, and Arias is a winger. Saints basically have only 3 central midfielders, or 4 if you include Tessem who seems to spend most his time up front these days. It only takes 1 injury like to Delap and then maybe oakley/svensson gets injured/suspended and saints are in real trouble in the centre of the park as we have seen recently.

I forgot about matt draper actually, dunno what has happened to him, 5 years ago he was on the verge of the england team.

Saints announced a loss of ~£4m a month or two back and I doubt they have much cash to splash about, I would guess they won't spend more than 2.5-3m on any given player. My recommendation would be either pickup an up-and-coming youngster from the lower divisions, or an aging star who has fallen out of favour at one of the bigger clubs. Someone like David Batty or gary flitcroft would be perfect in the short term.

Eventually a long term replacement for Shearer, rumour is we have 1st refusal on Rooney, he'd fit the bill :D

And maybe a left winger that's more consistent and hardworking than Robert.

Apart form that no one. I would've said a quality left-back a few months ago but on current form I don't think there's anyone we could sign better than Bernard.

Hopefully these positions will be filled by Arsene in the summer.

^^^^^^^^^ dunno about centre forward though give allidere(sp?) a chance he is suppose to be quality
