Looking to completely upgrade my rig and start from scratch.

Looking to put 2 BFG GeForce 8800 Ultra OC 768MB GDDR3 in SLI and i'm wondering what power supply i should be going for?

The rig will consist of the following:

2 X BFG's GeForce 8800 Ultra OC 768MB GDDR3 SLI
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6700 "LGA775 Kentsfield" 2.66GHz
BFG nForce 680i SLi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
G.Skill 2GB DDR2 HZ PC2-6400C4 (2x1GB) CAS4 Dual Channel Kit
2 X Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB ST3500630AS SATA-II 16MB
Lian Li PC-B20B Aluminium Midi-Tower - Black

What you guys reckon to that rig good enough for Dreamweaver and browsing!!!! :D looking to spend a maximum of £1600 if you guys know of anything better I can substitute please reply. The other GFX card will be purchased a few months later, so £1600 spend excluding the other card.

cheers guys

I wanna future proof this rig for a while thats why im going for sli

I wont be overclocking I don't think, but if I did what would you recommend?

The 620 would still be fine.

What Res do you play at?

Its not worth going SLI since most games cant take advantage of it. By the time games do take advantage of SLI capabilities (god knows how long that will be), your Ultras will be old tech. Their will be something new out.

Thats a good point I will take that into consideration

I will be getting that 30" dell monitor so i want to be gaming at 2560x1600 thats why i was wondering about sli

Have a look in this thread: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17738120&page=7

Admittedly Jokester is overclocking his quad-core pretty fiercely and is using water-cooling, but he has only a single 8800ultra. Drawing 873watts at the wall means his supply is providing in the region of 700w to his system, which would be enough to make a hx620w expire :)

Personally I'd say you should be looking at roughly the 850w mark whether it be an Etasis Gaming Power, Silverstone Olympia/Decathlon or an Enermax Galaxy.

The extreme psu calculater usually overstates the amount of power you will need so it's not something you should swear by.

Really? I thought it understated it, ie you should add 50 watts to whatever output it calculates for you. But then, I was told that on "lesser" forums ;)

Good to know though, so thanks.
