Can some one recommend me an application I should run to check stability of an overclocked quad core (q6600)?

I used to use everest stability test for my dual cores but I dont think it is stressing all 4 cores as two of the temperatures are a good 8c below the other cores.

Is prime95 still the boy to use? I used that when overclocking P4 northwoods ;D

is Core Temp an accurate application to test for temperature? I am getting 10c higher in core temp than in everest!

P95 blend and small fft are still good, also intel burn est or LinX are goos for quick tests, however they run a bit hotter than p95.

intel burn test is the best I am a complete convert as of about two weeks ago.

gives you an answer in 5 minutes, it REALLY stressed the CPU to the max so watch temps you may find them 10-15 degrees higher than your previous max!

make sure you got cooling reserve.

Wow the amount of people that still miss this boat on giving out information is amazing regarding stabilty.
The correct way to get stabilty is to try different tests. Running prime for 4 days and wasting clock cycles to find it falls on its arse when you lanch WOW,BFBC black ops etc..if not the way.
Running prime for [Inset your own] hrs is still a good indication as is the other ll burn test linx etc but using one and calling it stable is foolsih.

use a couple of the above, if the pass use the machine for a good 8 hour gaming day job done

In the case of say ocuk who build and sell in bulk the dont have time to spend like a day running stabilty time again which i why they offer full support on their o/c machines ;)

Personally I have two tests:

- Quick & Dirty (for finding max temps and minor stability): 5 runs of IntelBurnTest, which takes ~15 minutes for me. Usually finds maximum temperature within 1-2 C of what would happen a longer test and will also fail if your overclock is very unstable.

- Full Stability (for testing proper stability): 100 runs of IntelBurnTest, which is done overnight and takes ~5 hours for me. This is followed by an overnight test of Prime95 (small FFTs).

Do NOT fall for the trap of thinking a 5 minute IntelBurnTest run will reveal any instabilities - whilst finding my lowest VCore for 3.8 GHz, both 1.20625 V and 1.2125 V caused a blue screen after between 50 and 70 IBT passes. Running at 1.21875 V passes everything. :)
