Hi,

Looking at the below build and was wondering what PSU i will be needing to run it all? I think I'm right in saying that they 6870 will have 2 x power inputs? I'm currently only running an 8800GTS which has 1 x 6 pin power from my PSU and I don't think I have another one available. The PSU I currently have is an OCZ 400W ModXstream Pro.

Advice appreciated.

Thanks

Ok thanks for the advice. Was looking at the AMD route purely as a price point. So do you guys not think that AMD is worth it? Another reason was that AMD seem to support their CPU sockets for a lot longer then Intel. Not planning on upgrading again for another 3-4 years you see.

Can I just ask what an earth you're going to do with 8TB of space?

Guessing you already have a case?

This is what I'd recommend, very similar to RJC's, but I dropped the H60 out for a Gelid Tranquillo, and instead gave you a Z68 Gen 3 Mobo - this is supposed to support IvyBridge (Intel's next CPU, and PCI 3.0 - next gen GPU's...)

its clear that the gigabyte mobos out now do not support PCIe G3. if you read the articles they do not have the correct chips in to support it.

asrock is the best G3 mobo for the price right now.

ps. damager, you might have a bit of trouble powering your recommendation up ;)
i'd go with RJC's spec but with the gelid tranquillo instead of the H60 to keep the cost similar to what you had in mind before
