what PSU?

You certainly won't regret buying that.

I could swear that's precisely what everyone said when the Corsairs first debuted yet now 2 years on you "wouldn't buy or recommend one" due to a perceived reliability issue. I'd like to know how you are so sure the same fate doesn't await these Enermax models really.

Another thing to consider when choosing your PSU is power efficiency. Most PSU's from major brands are part of the 80+ scheme but often what is not understood is that your PSU must be using a certain percentage of power to reach it's optimum power-efficiency rating.

My current PSU is an ANTEC Earthwatts 380w which is an 80+ PSU but it's massive overkill for the lower power system it's running (44Watts Idle to 98Watts Load), the EA380 doesn't actually become 80% efficient until it's running at least 50% load (approx 190Watts) so I'm stuffed! :D

What I am waiting for is a major PSU manufacturer to wake up and smell the roses and understand there are many users like me who have skinny power efficient computers that run an average full load of 75Watts and ideally we need 80+ 150Watt PSUs . . .

Sorry Wayne but i disagree. They are overpriced and with a lot of failures recently and the expense of having to ship them to the Netherlands for repair would suggest that they are anything but the best psu's.

You can't be sure but the new Enermax psu's have been getting amazing reviews. Yes so did the Corsairs but even they did'nt score so highly as these Enermax ones. 90% efficiency at 50% load with a minimum of 84% efficiency is fantastic. There is no way that i would buy or recommend a psu (or any other component) that has a known problem. These Corsairs do have a problem. Yes they were sold in large numbers so there will be more failures, but there are a hell of a lot of failures. Too many for my liking. There's one on the first page of the forums were a HX620 exploded. Other's have taken out components. Just do a search as it's not a isolated case.

That's fine your entitled to your opinion! :)

Corsairs are the best all rounder for me, quiet, stable, the best modular system by a long chalk, I only sold mine because I will never be using 620w ever.

Enermax make some nice PSU's although I've seen a few of them go pop also. Last Enermax I bought made a crackling sound so I sent it back to them in Milton Keynes and they replaced it next day, pretty good turnaround but I didnt get my shipping refunded for what was a 3 day old PSU.

So much **** written on these forums lol, I feel very sorry for the up and coming nOObs who are spending hours trawling forum posts trying to get some info on their choosen PSU's only to read posts by other *very* inexperienced people talking rubbish :(

I've got two HX620W powering two high end worksations for nearly a year now, never skipped a beat however I am aware it is the nature of computer hardware to break sometimes, I just won't be slagging off an entire brand because a few units have failed!

Totally agree on buying a psu for it's efficiency but your not quite accurate on what the 80plus scheme means. Just to set the record straight
The 80plus rating is awarded to psu that are 80+ at 25% load, 50% load and 75% load.

Your Antec has 82.76% efficiency at 77w (25%) - 80plus report here that almost all psu has their max efficiency around 40-50% load

the coolermaster Real Power Pro 360 is slightly better at 83.41@72w(25%) but makes more noise that the antec.
Dell have a supper efficient 255w supply - F255E-00 - 85%@52w(25%)
but I've no idea how to get one :(

Enermax 82+, then the Corsairs* then the Zalman HP - 380 to 450w units are more than ample for all single card rigs.

Edit *off to see if it's truth or troll about the corsairs (as a 5 year warenty, and seasonic are good) but shipping at your cost to europe is not fun.
