What PSU?

i want a 850W PSU its got to be modular and black with no lights(to go with a build im doing)

was thinking of Be quiet any other ideas?

looking at spending about £140 max

oh and im getting 850 cos i want to crossfire 4970s, will it be enough?

Yeah be quiet are ok , i take it you ment 2 x 4870's if so i am running 2 on a 750w psu with no probs what so ever so 850w is plenty

Have a look at the Zalman PSU or look at the Corsair range - although the 650/750/850 are not modular.

+1 for the BeQuiet! 850W - and I can tell you it really is very very quiet! Also comes with loads of cables which are a good length too and plenty of connectors. Plus it can also run 4 fans directly from the PSU which can help to keep a case nice and tidy. Also has a 3 min 'run on' feature so the connected fans run after system shutdown for additional cooling, which would prob be even more beneficial in a crossfire rig.

+1 for the Zalman, has all the features described above by RJC except single 140mm fan.
As close to silent as you'll get.

Id reccomend a thermaltake toughpower, its the same psu as a corsair tx series, but a bit cheaper, i use the 750w model and its a very quiet unit.

+1 for the Zalman had it for a month now brilliant stable as you like and can take an awful lot of stuff not much I haven't ran of it lol.

Big fan of the Be Quiet! here. Had the 650w for a bit now. Totally superb! Quiet, great selection of cables and practically everything minus the ATX 24pin is detachable. Great for cable management!

I have the Zalman 850 and the fan is dead silent. You need to put your ear right to it to hear anything.

I am having an issue with it with awful electrical buzz/squeal type noises since I upgraded though, so it's going for RMA. Google around, there are several others, although I think it can happen on other units too. It's a bit pot-luck
