Hi all, fairly new to the forum and thought I'd just get your opinion on a new PSU.

I currently have a liquid cooled Q6600 @ 3.4 with 2 5850 Extreme graphics cards in crossfire (which are being bottlenecked quite badly).

I am 99% certain I will be buying a new system soon and I want a complete new build - one that is quick, tidy and will last a while.

I am waiting for Bulldozer just to see how it compares with SandyBridge but don't think I will wait for SandyBridge E or Ivybridge as who knows how much they will be and IB is a fair way off.

My new system would keep the 5850s and would currently be a i7 2600k with a Z68 MB (Asrock Extreme4 probably), 8GB of top ram, my current WD Velociraptors in RAID for important files, a decent SSD for OS, and possibly a massive HD with a small SSD for quick cache using the new Z68 feature to store photos etc.

So, not a massive system but I had my heart set on a Corsair Gold AX850 for £157.99 (Modular cables are a must). However, I have read good reviews of the new OCZ ZX series and the Gold ZX 850 is only £134.99 but seems to get reviews as positive if not more so than the Corsair. (The other option is the XFX 850w Black Edition [silver rated] which is online for £95)

Question is, given that the Gold ZX 1000 is only £144 (hell the 1250 is only £163) would make the most sense to get the 1000w as it would be pretty future proof if I wanted to add more SSDs and other bits and pieces down the line?

Any thoughts?

[Apologies for the ramble]

Well, if I went for a 1000w supply it would be the OCZ ZX Gold series, which gets good reviews and comes with a 5-year warranty - which offers a straightforward replacement service, no repairs they just send you a new one if you have any issues with it. Let's face it, it's not exactly a budget choice.

This is my first new build, so I want to get decent components.

A good PSU, case and monitor will out last the other parts.

when you come back in 5 years time asking "can I fit this graphics card?" we ask what PSU you have got, you say this one, and we say no issues there:)
