500W is ample for a stock system of this platform but I would go for a 620+ The OCZ 650w is a snip for under £60. Solid, 86&% efficiency and 3 year warranty, if your not too bothered about non-modular. Will give you plenty of headroom for upgrades and/or any overclocking
As Stulid says, don't go for cheaper brands of PSU, not a good idea.
If need be drop the wattage but stick to a solid make (i.e. get this) and you'll be fine for the time being, but you will lose some scope for overclocks and future upgrades.
Edit: I admit that doesn't save you much. But a solid PSU is a must!
I should mention the CPU comes overclocked to 3.3GHZ.
Would I be better buying second hand? Unfortunately money is tight at the minute with other commitments so it's either cheap or not at all for the time being.
It is sufficient for the spec you have at the moment. Any upgrades such as the GFX card will have to be carefully planned, things like an ATI HD6850 will be ok and the Nvidia GTX460 cards.
The GX450 PSU has a single 6pin PCI-E connector, a GTX460 card needs two like the GTX260.
The GTX260 he has would have come with a molex adapter (assuming it was complete and new) , but if he sells it on then he may like to include this also.
