What ram for this board and cpu????

for the board it says "DDR3 800/1066/1333/1600*/1800*/2133*(OC)" under the specs but I think if you're using two slots it's 1600 and anything more is 1333 with the cpu

also say save yourself some money and go for the 955, both cpu's overclock the same

if you get the retail version then you'll have both the 32/64 discs and most ram will come as 2x2gb's making 64bit better value let along better performance

Isn't that only with windows 7 ultimate which costs a lot more than the other versions?

I can get Windows 7 32bit through my friend who is a student for 30 quid. My brother recently bought windows 7 ultimate for 230 odd quid and it had both 32/64bit discs. Unfortunately you can only run it on one machine at a time and i'm not paying that much for Windows :P

Would i actually see better performance using 64bit with 4gig than 32bit with 3gig? If so, is this added performance enough to contemplate less support?

you're just comparing a less powerful os with less ram to something much greater for the same price or cheaper.

if you want cheaper still use another motherboard that'll work with ddr2 but then you'll be losing bandwidth :)
