What Res?

Hi all

A very quick question, my brother needs a new monitor but he's not sure what gfx card he has, i imagine it's someware along the old 8800 specs, does it matter on the resolution of the screen? can he go for 1920 res on a 22" Samsung ok do you think? The rest of his PC is a duel core AMD and 3gig ram, i don't have much more info right now, sorry..

I would suggest you find what the exact graphics card is before picking out a monitor. The software GPU-Z can be used to quickly tell you what he is using.

May I ask what your brother will be using the monitor for and does he have an approximate budget in mind?

If he is playing modern games a 8800GTX level graphics card will work OK a 1920x1080 (1080p) monitor, however he will have to turn the settings down in most games to get playable framerates.

as above, can prob play on medium settings at that res, but if hes wanting to max out games he'll have to shell out for a new card too
