Surprising how quick eyefinity and surround died off, a few years ago it was a pretty common setup on here, now its old hat it seems.

When did 2560x1440p start being called 2K?

In film and editing 2K is 2048 x1080. Heck in FCPX if you select the 2K preset you're greeted with 1920x???? where ???? = several reses for different aspect ratios, although the most common being 2048 x1080 as 2K.

At best 2560 should be 2.5K, as 1920= 2K, and 3840/4096 = 4K.

Edit: Anyhoo, I game at 2560x1440 144Hz lately.

3440x1440. Think be staying at that res for quite a few years, unless they bring out a super wide 4k monitor that has 100hz. And also there has to be the hardware to run it.

1080p is 2K, 1440p is 2.5K.
Nope.

2k has no 'standard' definition and is used for

2000x2000
1920x1080
2560x1440
and even a couple other niche resolutions

depending on the person, with nobody being 'wrong'.

Which is why I wish people would just not use it at all. If you want to talk about 1920x1080, say '1080p' or Full HD. If you want to talk about 2560x1440, use '1440p' or WQHD. This alleviates any potential confusion.

Also interesting that more people here are on 1440p than 1080p. Shows how this place is super far from the norm and not at all representative of the average PC gamer. Something to keep in mind.
