What RTS game

Hi all, can anyone recommend a RTS preferably one that is modern military but I'd consider other genres as well, at the moment I'm downloading army men RTS (free trial )

StarCraft!

It's by far the best one out there. I should know, I've played almost all of them.

Also, Rome Total War, Warhammer 40k Dawn of War, Civilisation IV, Act of War, Haegomenia Legions of Iron.

Also Nexus: The jupiter incident is good, but of a different style to the others listed.

All of these games are different from each other, but as Kreeee always keeps on saying for the most balanced and fun, and money earning RTS you can not go wrong with Starcraft; currently the best of the crop if very dated in the graphics department.

Homeworld : Cataclysm. It's space based, but you can get it for a fiver and it's the best of the homeworld games. Still looks great too.

Not sure if its your COT, but I'm waiting for the new Rise of Nations RTS to come out end of this month.

Played the demo and enjoyed it very much.

Also, if you haven't got DOW 40K, then get it. Its an excellent game and has a new expansion coming soon.

dawn of war was pimpin but when it comes down to it a standard full squad of space marines seemed to be the best unit with just simple charges being the most effective tactic

then again i get bored in rome total war and rush in loosing my formation, so maybe a more simple game is for me anyway

Supreme commander (Sequal to Total Annihilation) is also on the horizon so keep an eye out for that too.

I am terrible at the game mind..

We don't know how good Supreme Commander will be, but if its stable, a reasonable runner on most rigs and looks as good as the videos so far it will be amazing!

My faith in that franchise went with Generals.

It is a VERY good game, but not C & C.

Out of interest Kree, what did/do you think of Act of War and its expansion? I think they're both cracking games, but I have a soft spot for games set in todays world.

It's a simple and solid RTS game. It managed to hold my interest well in single player but there was never a large enough online community. If you like single player RTS games then I'd recommend it as a bit of light entertainment

At a game with your mates that, and BFME1 are two of the best strategy games to play of modern times.

generals is a very good game, i had an amazing game of it this evening of which i challenge any rts to beat..

ps.. total annihilation might have been able to beat it that game was awesome

I don't do LANs... except for C&C:TFD LANs. No one will play me at StarCraft when I do a LAN

1- Yes it is crap (IMO, but it's obvious this post is my opinion) but not for the reasons you mentioned, get over yourself kid.

2- Your opinion and you're very much welcome to it, you should be just as accepting of the opinion of others.

3- TA was much better than generals in my opinion, it just never had a large enough online following.

4- Only when they buy out and butcher games I like

Full spectrum Warrior Ten Hammers will be out any time, it's got pretty average reviews BUT that's because it's pretty much just a tweaked version of the original.

The original was great though and so if this is an improved and more featured sequal then i'll be happy

Too many games series are ruined by sequals that are too far away from the original. I'm looking forward to this one
