I don't do LANs... except for C&C:TFD LANs. No one will play me at StarCraft when I do a LAN :(

I would gladly lose to you. :)

But be a bit boring. :p

You should play Dawn of War or a game along those lines, modernise and inferiorise a bit. :p

I'll play you ;)

The one time, and get my arse kicked... :p But we do have a fair following of StarCraft amongst the people we play wtih. Not quite to the professional point, but on the higher side of average, I'd guess :)

EDIT: Talking of Total Anihillation - I'm sure that some open source version of it was released recently... Can't recall the name though :/ Might have to spam google tomorrow.

I like Dawn of War quite a bit but I don't own it.

I'm up for a game or 2 of SC on friday/saturday.

Ok you would win, I will take you up on your offer once I get better at it. :(

Any other strategy games you play en ce moment.

1- Yes it is crap (IMO, but it's obvious this post is my opinion) but not for the reasons you mentioned, get over yourself kid.

ouch... im just trying to understand why u feel this way... as i have posted a few times in these posts recently ive never played sc so it could be the best rts ever made... but that doesn't instantly mean all others are crap, could you please go into more detail on why u hate generals so much?

as for z... that game was awesome, pretty sure i had it working on xp at some point but its probably waay too old and too much hassle to get any multiplayer games of it... was steel soldiers actually anything like it as i somehow missed that one

Steel soldiers did away with the cinematics which I loved so much.
It did away with the fun 2D scene which I loved, whilst not offering good enough 3D to make me want to play that one instead (although I'll take into consideration just how old the game is).
I was considerably worse at the game, however, so that is something to take into consideration.

I got Z to work on WinXP, with a network connection, but the lag was just unbearable in a multiplayer game so we had to stop. I still wish I could give someone a game, if only to see if it is any good.

I still reckon Steel Soldiers was a good game. Sure, the cinematics were sadly missing, and the overall atmosphere wasn't as good, but it's still a good game.

I never said all other RTS games are crap. I love Total Annihilation, Dawn of War and the earlier C&C games.

Generals just seems far too generic and the pace really grates on me too much for me to enjoy it. The teams are inbalanced (they were when I last played it) and the general way the upgrades and mechanics of the game work bore me. Some people hate StarCraft though, and that's fine by me.

Edit: I DEMAND that the bitmap brothers re-release Z for windows XP. If it had working LAN I'd buy 2 copies immediately.

heh dont get me wrong if u dont like generals thats fine with me to :)

just feel ** missing out, were u playing generals or zero hour ? as zero hour did make it 10x better

a few units are overpowered (alpha aurora's)... and the toxin general is complete pants in my opinion but other than that i see people playing as all the other generals so they cant be too overpowered

i could go for some z or ta right now :D

I own both generals and zero hour. Completed the campaigns and attempted roughly 5 hours of online play. It's not like I didn't give it a chance, luckily the campaign was easy enough to complete in no time at all.

Hell no, if necessary I'd travel all the way out to him for a game! Sure I'd lose, but multiplayer Z is something I've been dying to try out.
I'd make everyone who comes over play the game!

Any other good small squad, non resource management type games out there similar to Soldiers: Heroes of World War II and Panzers?

The majority of RTS games involve economy as a very large part of the game. The type of game you are after is very rare.
