hi folks,

sorry to keep pressing on with this thread but im trying to narrow down my options...

I can get the following:

tomtom one xl for around £140 (uk maps)
navman s50 for £155 (uk and ireland maps)
navman s70 for £160 (western europe maps)

Anyone able to offer any final advice that would help me make a decision? I have read about a poor quality of windscreen mount on the tomtom and also something in this thread about the screen that can go faulty without a protector. Navman sounds good with the bluetooth calling etc. All units use the same kind of maps and the same GPS chip so i'm guessing there isn't much difference. I'm slightly unsure about going with navman because obviously tomtom is the best known make while I had never heard of navman.

Go for the NavMan, you get more for your money. TomTom cash in on their brand being the best known, NavMan are just as good.

Got a Navman S70 myself.

Would definitely recommend it.

Yea as far I know they are almost identical to the s50 except for bigger memory + the western europe maps. I think it is worth the extra £5 to get the whole of europe + uk maps!

ah cheers for that - think its still cheaper on another large uk online store (the jungle one)

I cross checked all the specs again and the s70 has a lot bigger internal memory - does this make much odds?

Edit: site i was looking at doesn't ship the s70 to northern ireland so s50 it is!

yeah i read some bad things about the tomtom mounts and stuff + the opinions on here swayed me to navman. Bluetooth calling and stuff is very handy too. If my Dad doesn't like it i'll just have it for myself! Will post back when its up and running. Cheers
