What shall I do with this border of weeds?

I have three borders around my lawn. One I've dug up the soil including the weeds and so I'm left with weed free soil. I'm going to put some compost down then my plant flowers which I grew from seeds a month ago. They were grown on a windowsill in trays with covers over them, I take them outside during the day to help them climatise.

The other two borders are still like this

Since I'm not planting anything here I just want to kill the weeds and leave it as soil, I may put so,e pre grown little ferns mad flowers in later. Shall I just get some roundup and kill all the weeds or shall I dig it all up like I did before?

borders aren't that big so just dig them out and turn the soil over no need to spray any chemicals onto them

Nuke the site from orbit... or you could try good old fashioned Tumbleweed (if you can find a garden centre stocking it).

Mine were a fair bit worse that that and absolutely infested by spring oniong looking things that seemed to have 1 blade of chunky grass at the top of the bulb :/ Not a clue what they are but I'm guessing they're weeds haha.

I just dug down under everything and tore out from the roots, really is amazing how far the roots go at times. did involve a fair few carloads of rubbish being dragged to the tip.

I have a similar area to tackle in my driveway and will be doing what I did in my garden boarder and planting some ivy, various types of heather and perhaps a few different kinds of herbs, mint being one (in a buried pot to stop it spreading).

I planted lots of different varieties of heather and it's really nice to see the colour changes during the seasons.

There are some really nice kinds of ivy about but you will have to cut it back if you do plant any as they tend to take over... everything! The plus side is they give great ground coverage and never get any weeds around the area.

What the hell have you done to your lawn ?

As for the weeds just dig them out you big Jessie. :p
