Just had installed BT infinity installed (79mb over cable, 30mb over old usb wireless dongle which is to be expected)

Is it best the get a
1) PCI network card
2) wireless Extender (than cable to pc)
3) new dongle

don't want to get powerline adapter

I have a feeling that a pci netword card is the way to go, however i only have 1 PCIe x16 (free) would this be ok

any help would really be appreciated, would like to order for delivery tommorow. Thankyou

network card. Wifi wont max out that link. Plus it doesn't have to go in a x16 slot a x1 or x4 will be fine. Or the onboard?

I have Virgin 100mbit at home, wireless N connects at 230 - 270mbit but I can only get downloads of about 6.6mb/s. Had some nice external cat5e installed so everything running on 1gbit wired, now get full 10mb/s. No drops, no peaks, just pure 10mb/s.

Ahh sorry. When you said option 1 pci network card i thought you meant for an ethernet cable. I had cable run outside my house to link corner to corner. Had a spare gig switch (5 port thing) to put at the other end. Cost £90 that included labour, sockets on the wall etc. You could do it yourself for less than the cost of the wifi card. For the speed of your network link id say save for the wired link based on the speed of your internet. £30 and sometime would sort cable. Straight from the homehub to the back of your pc.

OK cheers, if i cant get the 79mb connection over a dongle or wireless pci card theres no point, i'll just use my old for now until i can afford to have the cable routed. thanks for the help
