Hi All,

Just took in a delivery of my new PC but wanted to know what software should I download if any?

I have already thought about downloading Core Temp, GPU-Z and CPU-Z just mainly for monitoring purposes. But is there anything else I should consider?

Specs, if needed, are:

Intel i5 4670K @ 4.2 GHZ
8GB DDR3 2133MHz
Samsung 120GB SSD
Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD
R9 290 Tri-X 4096 MB

I just want to keep this PC running as smooth as possible for as long as possible. First PC I think I have ever cared about :D

Thanks All

A decent AV.
Maybe Ccleaner or similar.

Depends what you want to monitor.

I just want to ensure it doesn't overheat and everything is running as it should. To be honest I want people to also tell me what I should be monitoring and doing with it to ensure its always working efficiently.

I understand a lot of it is down to the user but this is going to be the first PC I have actually wanted to always work properly.

You all forgot samsung magician software if you have a evo ssd it will nearly double the spped when rapid mode is enabled upto like 900+ mb per sec

If you are using Windows 8 then don't download core temp, it was causing my PC to freeze. Go for RealTemp instead.

Yeah should have mentioned I've got Windows 8 in the spec really shouldn't of I. Good shout I'll make sure to do that, you got a link or is it around the forums?

Here is what I have installed

Gigabytee App Centre (so I can tweak fan speeds)
Avast Free AV
CPU-Z
HWMonitor
Gigabyte Easytune (Same as first part)
All the drivers for graphics card etc.
Malwarebytes
MS Office
MSI Afterburner
MSI Kombustor
RivaTuner Statistics

The obviously install all the other stuff you want :D

prefer OHM personally, just configure it to sit in the taskbar and give GPU/CPU temps.

Thanks guys,

Tonight when I get in from work I will be downloading the following then:

CPU-Z with Prime 95
GPU-Z
Real Temp
HWMonitor
Kaspersky PURE 3.0
AMD Driver Catalyst Suite - Will download latest beta driver also

I'm tempted to download benchmark software but don't really know if its a necessity. Any advice?

Not a necessity, no... but it would mean you could compare your scores to those of other overclockers here. Take your pick from the scoreboard.
Heaven 4.0, Furmark and 3DMark seem to be ones I hear often mentioned (and have thus gotten for myself).

I don't think I'm going to bother then. I'll just stick with the software I listed previously. Thanks for the help guys.

EDIT: Decided I'm not going to go with AVAST Free, been reading in the software forums at AV ratings and I'm going to go with Kaspersky as it had the third best score.
