What should I test drive so that I know what I want?

Well its a good chunk of one in most parts of the world

10k would get you a 100k property - which buys smaller 1 bed flats around here. It's a start :)

Where as where I'm looking its closer to 170k for a 1 bed small flat ( in an area that is a complete **** hole). 8k isn't too bad if you don't have a problem with being at home.

I have a big list of reasons to not be anywhere near london and thats one of them :) My 2 bed victorian mid terrace with garden and parking, in a nice part of town near the river is worth about £180k!

looking for 200k + here in london...

basically, house is being put aside for now, till I make a move job wise, currently all the jobs seem to be in london so I'm not willing to move out and commute longer than 2 hours that I do every day..

You guys need to come to Wales, i'm selling my first house at the moment, 2 bed semi bungalow with separate garage and off road parking for 3 cars in a very nice village, i'd bite your hand off if you offered anything over £130k :p

Why even make this thread when you haven't even shifted that clapped out Celica yet? just another pointless thread that's going to run on and on with pointless suggestions that will be ignored till Acme gets another car.
Does anyone really believe he's looking at S4's that can throw up insane running costs when he's only owned a knackered Corrolla and a cat D Celica

Yep it sucks, that's in and around the Medway towns. Crap hole for the most part but its a commuter town for London so its full or lol prices. And if you avoid places with train lines they are even more lol prices as they are nice quite villages for local people.

If I didn't love my job and the higher chance of the weather being nicer down south (looks outside and crys) I wouldn't think twice about moving further up north.

That Aston Martin/F-type is looking more likely then a flat/house any time soon.

Its why I love living in the south west - in my line of work I'm so much better off financially than if I was in London. Sure I could earn a lot more, but it would cost so much more to live and commute that it would actually leave me with less disposable income and a higher stress level. But nice weather (relatively speaking), nice scenery, laid back pace for the most part. But can still get to London relatively easily when I need to :)

You won't get a decent S2k for 7k these days.

Get an EP3 CTR, faster than a Clio 197/200 and probably handle better too. Stick a K&N/AEM induction kit on and you'll have some serious smiles and sound in VTEC.

Standard vs Standard an EP3 isn't much faster than a 200.

Mr2 turbo. You only live once :p

As for putting money on a deposit if he buys wisely he will not lose any money if he comes to sell again.

Oh for **** sake, why don't the forums have an alcohol limit? :p

I'm not spending 7 - 8K on a car any time soon, not sure where that figure came from... 6.5~ is more where I was thinking, and I certainly chose an odd time to make this thread since I have bigger fish to fry first... It would be my only car so need to find out where I'm working etc too...

Rough week. :D

Oh and FWIW, you can get a good B6 S4 for under £7K, full history, 80K~ miles.

They have timing chains, not belts. The aux belt change requires taking the bumper off and headlights out because it is on the front of the engine, but the engine doesn't have to come out.

Consumables aren't too expensive either, as they are basically just Audi A4 bits for the most part, and the bits that aren't, aren't too bad either... :)

That doesn't mean its a good idea though... :p

Another waste of everyone's time then? :p

I'm off to make some food and coffee to cure my hangover...
