Good morning, I am currently trying to decide what to upgrade to from my current pc which ive had for nearly 2 years apart from the GFX card which is 9 months old.
Could you please advise on what you would upgrade to and why, thx in advance :D

Current PC
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3200mhz
Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3
OCZ 4GB (4 x 1GB) PC2-6400
Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer
Western Digital Raptor 36GB WD360ADFD 10,000RPM SATA 16MB
Western Digital Caviar SE16 250GB 2500KS SATA-II
Seagate Barracuda 250 GB 7200.9 , SATA II
Samsung SpinPoint P SP2504C 250GB SATA-II 8MB
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler
Antec NeoHE 550W Modular ATX2.0 PSU
BFG 8800GT OC 512MB
Antec P180 Case

question...why do you want to upgrade ?
does your pc do what you want it to do ?
your set up looks pretty good to me and i would leave it alone if it's running everything fine.

Purely down to having a faster pc, i just felt after 2 years i could do with a refresh to keep upto date. I play games such as bioshock, Team fortress, Grid, Age of Conan to name a few and i find that i can never run everything on full especially AA, i have a 20" monitor and game in 1680x1050 res btw.

What is your budget for upgrades then? That will largely determine your next options but off the top of my head an E84/500 clocked to ~4ghz and a 4870 could be a decent couple of options without breaking the bank but then you might also need to upgrade your motherboard as well.

I am looking at around £650-£800, i was thinking about the 8400/8500 but wasn't sure how they stack up against the Q9450 for example.
I also need to consolidate my hard drives as having 4 is using too many power adapters i don't currently have any spare on the PSU to be able to power a 4870/gtx280.

Best thing is probably to upgrade the graphics card to a 4870. That CPU @ 3200Mhz should be fast enough till nehalem comes out. I'd leave the rest and do a major upgrade later.

ok thanks for your input guys.
i think i'll stick it out with this PC and maybe get a GTX280 if the prices drop a bit more. ;)
