What should you bring to an interview?

What is it for? It sort of depends.

But for most things, I'd take basically nothing.

IT job. They have seen my cv with all my history on it so that should be sufficient I think. Now guys what pre alcoholic drink do you suggest to calm the nerves.

Carlsberg or two glasses of wine?

You shouldn't need anything, altough nothing wrong with bringing your qualifications with you and proof of id, should be no reason to need any and most employeers will tell you if you do so.

Whiskey!

I always take a copy of my CV with me and have it front of me - as they will always ask questions about qualifactions, dates of empoyment etc and if you can't remember exactly what you put down it could look bad

Proof of exams etc is taken care of usually when you start or just before they offer the job

Personally I wouldn't bother. They will have a copy of your CV, so they dont need another. And as for your qualifications, if they need to see them they will ask and I am sure will not mind waiting a day or two to see a copy.

You shopping from sainsburys and your girlfriend...

And the baby plus you can't leave your dog outside, he'll have to go in as well :)

I take my CV and a basic overview of the company I'm interviewing for. I'll sometimes prepare a few powerpoint slides on a pen drive describing the role and how it fits into the organisation, in case they ask for a presentation.

Depends entirely on the job you're applying for. I've often taken along a folder containing some examples of the work I've been doing - reports, designs, analysis, photograps etc. It gives you something to talk about and might help answer some of their questions. Plus it shows you've put in at least some preparation. You could even offer to leave it with them.
I wouldn't bother too much about qualifications, ID etc.

I take a copy of my CV and some info about the company - bio, latest news, qns to ask etc.
I once handed the CV over to the employer (they only had a copy which had been slightly butchered by a recruiting agency) but the rest stays in the folder during the interview where neither I or the interviewer can see it.
