Hi guys,

I've got a £3,000 hardware budget and 6 months left to use it. I currently have a 15" Macbook Pro (2.6Ghz) which has just been fantastic.

I wasn't sure if it was worth going for the 15" (with the high resolution screen and the SSH - £1550 HE) or the 17" version with the SSH (£1900).

In terms of use, it mainly sits on my desk at work and on my lap in the evenings (as well as having to transport it to and from work).

So what do you think?

I've got a 15" MBP on my lap and I think it's perfect.

I have 18" Viao and that's a bit much for on sofa or in bed.

I'd only go for the bigger screen if it was on the desk mostly.

If you have £3000 to use or lose go with the 17. If it's on the desk most of the time and you're only carrying it to the car I don't think the extra size and weight is going to be a big deal.

I've got a 15" MBP for the same reasons as above. I've got a monitor when I want extra pixels. Gives me the best of both worlds.

I think no matter which screen size you choose there is always going to be ifs and buts.

Should I have chosen the 13inch its more portable?
Should I have chosen the 17inch I would love that bigger screen?

I played it safe and got the 15inch best of both worlds and can connect it to a bigger screen if I need more screen real estate - like others have said.
