What skill level do you choose when playing single player games?

Normal/Medium or whatever it's called - I like to experience the game as intended by the devs first time round. After that though I'll try the others :)

I have 20+ unplayed games on my Steam list and a sim racing habit to support. So I play everything on the lowest settings now. I'm looking for relaxation and an "interactive movie" experience, not a challenge.

I'd feel different if I was a lot younger with more time than money for games (not that I buy many full price titles any more), then I'd be more inclined to take things slowly and enjoy beating rather than simply experiencing games.

I used to play games on the hardest setting for the achievements but then I simply stopped caring and started leaving games on their default setting. I rarely play a game twice through unless it's something I really loved first time round, or something that actually has a bit of replayability besides pointless collectables.

I always chose hard in the past, convincing myself that's how it was 'meant to be played' and that getting stuck and frustrated (in some, not all games) was all part if the entertainment.
I dont have as much time free these days though so rather than struggle and shout my way through games I just choose the normal/medium option
