What is to stop someone from stealing the door bell? The Nest one appears to be removable with a sim card pin?
You'd record them doing it!What is to stop someone from stealing the door bell? The Nest one appears to be removable with a sim card pin?
I have a Ring Doorbell Gen 1 at the moment and i am thinking of upgrading to the Pro, I too have an issue with no enough space on the CU. Could you let me know which transformer you went for? as i have a plug socket close by i could use.I have a ring pro and it's okay but not great. I use a plug in transformer as didn't have enough space for the transformer in the consumer unit. Also thinking of swapping it out for a nest hello.

I know that Ring offers a free replacement - https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003475783-What-to-do-if-Your-Ring-Device-is-Stolen
Take pictures of the damage but do not touch the scene before the police arrive.
A guy on reddit had his nest stolen and recorded the guy, Nest sent him a new one
I have a £7 wireless doorbell from my local DIY shop. It works. If I wanted a security camera I would buy one of those. Out of curiosity, and at risk of de-railing this thread - what is the motivation for a smart doorbell?
Also, for all the person ringing the doorbell knows, you could say you’re in the garden or in the bathroom or any other reason not to come to the door, when in reality you could be on the beach in California. So anyone casing the joint by ringing the doorbell just to see if you’re in is likely to be dissuaded if they get a real person speaking to them.
hereas a normal doorbell they wouldn't press the button
Some will. It's way less suspect for a burglar to go straight up to a house they're casing and ring the doorbell pretending to be a salesmen, which they can easily fob off if someone answers the door, rather than sneak about looking in windows, which looks immediately suspicious and will raise alarms if a neighbour or someone in the house sees them.
