What software do you use?

I think I need to get some software, as these photos are outstanding and im guessing , put into some programs and enhanced

so what do you use and why?

i'd like to give it a go myself

Well... The industry standard is Adobe Photoshop. It's pretty expensive (£650).

There are alternatives though. Photoshop elements is a stripped down version of the above, paint shop pro is similar, and there's GIMP which is free.

I use photoshop CS4

If you want more of a 'digital darkroom' approach to dealing with photos, rather than retouching/image manipulation, then take a look at adobe lightroom or aperture (on a mac).

If you just want to dabble, I'd recommend photoshop elements.

Adobe Lightroom 3 Beta is free to run at the moment until June this year. Worth a look.

I use Lightroom 98% of the time. Don't really know how to use photoshop that much or well.

Capture 1 for tethered shooting and RAW processing, Lightroom for DAM, and Photoshop for retouching.
