I'm stuck in Hospital and currently using the missuses potato laptop and struggling with browsing the net due to an absolutely woeful "guest" wifi. I'm looking for something that will help me browse the net more efficiently and hopefully not as frustratingly.

Help!?!?

Guys that's brilliant thank you.... slightly off topic but any other epic extensions that will make using this potato better?

Decentraleyes is another to look at as it emulates CDNs and runs scripts locally instead of waiting for the site to grab it from a 3rd party location, which also boosts privacy. You'll need to whitelist some sites in uBlock Origin as well so it doesn't conflict with it: https://git.synz.io/Synzvato/decentraleyes/wikis/Frequently-Asked-Questions

I'm currently using Cloudflare's DNS (1.1.1.1, 1.0.0.1) which is the fastest for me, but before that I was using Google (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4). Both were significantly faster than BT which is my current ISP. Give this DNS benchmark a go so you'll know what's the best for you: https://www.grc.com/dns/benchmark.htm

However changing the DNS might conflict with the guest Wi-Fi depending on how it's set up so it may not fully work.

Is Ublock spotted as much as Adblock by the more aware web sites that seem to be cropping up?
Andi.

There's an extra option in the filter list called "Adblock Warning Removal List" which is aimed to get around that, but it's unchecked by default. There's a more powerful option by using Nano Defender with it as well but it's a tad tricky to set up.

Hmm, mine is already ticked.

Install the browser ''Brave".

It's a Chrome based browser with adblocker and script blocking built in. Superb, i use it on my mobile and PCs.

Brave does seem promising and I've been using it for a while but I do get issues sometimes with blank/transparent pages and other oddities. It's the only thing stopping me from using it as my main browser.
