What software should I use for managing/editing my photos?

If you use a mac I would recommend Aperture as personally I think it is better than Lightroom for photo management however I think Lightroom is currently more powerful than aperture with regards to photo editing.

That pretty much spot on mirrors what I think.
I'm personally just waiting to see if Apple will give us a decent Aperture performance update with Mountain Lion, otherwise I think I will make the switch to Lightroom, having dabbled with it a little.

I used to think this.

But then I switched to Lightroom ;p
 
Lightroom, although my advice is to use Windows Explorer to put them somewhere sensible on disk and THEN import them.

That's the way I do it.

Yeah, I always do that first, I'm so glad I got a very fast memory card so it doesn't take forever to copy the files using the memory card reader.

Lightroom is currently going for £70 on Amazon with a purchase of a camera accessory if anyone is interested.
