But anyway, the 4870 is a solid choice. Just wish ATI got rid of their silly CCC.

You don't have to use the CCC. Not for single cards at least. I've never used the CCC throughout my time with ATI as I uses ATI Tray Tools.

Me too, but you shouldn't have to really. In all fairness nVidia's CP is leagues ahead of ATI's efforts.
 
I've been agonising over this too...

4870 or GTX260 or GTX280

Basically there's very little between them. I've decided to go for the 4870 because

a] I have pointless brand loyalty towards ATI
b] It's cheaper
c] 4870 blows the hot air outside the case, the nVidia cards blow it back in.
d] The 4870 is the same length as my x1950pro and I have limited space

Minor points maybe but it helped me decide when there's not much to keep the cards apart.
