What sort of GPU for PhysX?

I'm looking at getting a cheap Nvidia GPU for PhysX processing in video games. What GPU can I get that will be sufficient to process PhysX?

Also, do you think my 600W PSU would be enough to power both a 6950 and a GPU for PhysX?

I think a seperate gpu for physx is a bit of a gimmick.( if you have a decent gpu )

I remember seeing a 480 with a seperate gpu for physx and the overall fps was lower compared to just having the 480 on its own. :/

This example was with Mafia 2 and graphic card (used as separate PhysX unit) slower than GTX 260. Everything above that GTX was surplus.

I think there's no point to have separate PhysX card, just sell 6950 and buy 660Ti.

Up to the 69 series, a 9800gt is sufficient.

On the 79's I don't think my 9800gt is doing so well as it's looking like it's holding performance back, but I won't know for sure unless some one gives me a save in the physX heavy part underground as I won't be giving it a proper play for a while.

Not sure if it works in Borderlands 2. Maybe Tommybhoy can help as I know he has a set up as such.

:)

It does work in B2, you need to use the enable gpu physX option, (that I totally forgot to do:o)

That's not going to be a ~£30 solution to PhysX for the OP.

I've been looking in to this too, but from what I gather a GTS250/GTS450/550ti is as low as you should go if you have a semi-powerful AMD card. As such, I wrote the whole idea off as financially unviable.

I have enabled PhysX in the config file but for some reason enabling PhysX locks my FPS at 30, and I experience some dips into the low 20s with PhysX enabled.

I'm thinking of ditching my 6950 and getting a 670/680 when I have the money.

I saw a video showing that a dedicated PhysX card actually lowered performance. No idea why, it just did.
