Well im going to be upgrading soon (possibly ordering today), and ive decided i dont really want to spend all the money on a quad core, so im gonna get a quad later in the year, and im going to keep my current E6400.

I will be dropping it in a Abit ip35-e or possibly an Asus P5K, paired along with 4gb of Geil ultra low latency ram (the stuff everyone bums lol) and will be buying a good power supply.

This will be my first overclock but im pretty confident i can do it fine, ive read up quite a lot plus someone (allllec on here) is willing to help me if anything goes wrong (i hope :p)

So is 3.2ghz a reasonably target?

edit: I will buy an artic freezer pro 7 aswell :)

3.2 is a reasonable expectation can see you there easily :D
though I will say if you intend to move to Q core later maybe the Penryn will be happy under the Arctic cooler 7 pro
but Kentsfiled G0 or the B3 won't go far under it. Best to consider water, Thermaltale extreme or Sunbeam TuniQ tower 120.
Some peeps have reported 2 gig ram versus 4gig has a small percentage loss in overclocking, exactly how much I'm not sure varies with setup,
the performance gains from 4GB will most likely outway the oc loss though ;)

Depending on the stepping and everything else you should easily get 3.2 with a smidgen more volts. I think the best stable E6400 clock ive seen on here was 3.8 but that was with phase.
